Website Maintenance Process

Every month, we run maintenance on your website. This includes taking file and database backups to our servers (known as a “local” backup) and taking a backup to keep on your server (known as an “on-premesis” backup). If your site goes down, this allows us to quickly deploy from your on-premesis backup, but if your server goes down, we have a local backup handy, too. We also share this backup with you from our file management system, so you have the latest copy handy at all times.

Once the backups are done, we go through your site and update themes, plugins, and core software versions, noting what we updated and the versions we updated from and to. We test the updates as we make them and rollback anything that breaks. If there are breaking updates, we’ll work with you to develop a gameplan to address those breaks. Then, we’ll update your server-level software, following the same “safe update” protocol already in place for your site.

Once all the updates are done, we’ll push everything live and let you know what changes we made. We’ll also send you the link to your backups.

Website Monitoring Service

In addition to our maintenance, we also monitor sites using advanced technology that tells us your site is down before you know it. Oftentimes, if your site crashes, we’ll already be working on fixing it by the time you call us. Our monitoring software alerts us wherever we are with a notification when our partner’s sites go down with a detailed message to give a jump start on debugging. Our software also gives us warnings about SSL issues, so we stay on top of keeping your site secure.
