How much does a website cost?

The cost of your project may vary between <$1,000 to more than $5,000. Most businesses I work with find a solution for about $2,000. The cost of your project will vary depending on a few static variables and a few very fluid variables. One of the biggest determining factors is the existence of your brand. Are you just starting out or are you already established? Do you already have a website and you're looking to expand or for a new start? Or are you establishing your web presence for the first time? Other big determining factors include your desired timeline, site type (static or dynamic website, blog, ecommerce, etc), design needs, and hosting and maintenance needs.

How long does it take to build a website?

Project length can vary widely depending on scope, needs, time of year, and other factors. Most of the projects I’ve been involved with have seen 6-12 week turnaround times. Projects that are smaller in scope or have a more specific scope typically have a shorter turnaround time. Static projects typically can be done within a week if content is provided.

Will my website look good on my phone or tablet?

Yes. A cornerstone of my ideology in design is making everything accessible – meeting everyone’s needs so that the same services are available for every type of user. From designing for those with limited visibility, motor functions, or simply those using dynamically sized devices, my goal is to create a consistent experience across platforms and usability needs

What’s in your contract?

I provide specific contracts for each client based on needs, but most contracts I enter into have a few common traits. Every design I create is the sole property of me which I grant you rights to use. The unique combination of visual elements and industry knowledge to present those elements is the property of me. The license which I provide you with is legally binding for the duration of the contract (typically one year with extension options) after which I time I grant distribution rights the client. The copyright remains mine unless otherwise specified. Every contract I sign also has clauses which protects me from legal actions brought on by your actions and clauses which protects you from legal actions brought on by my actions. My contract is also very flexible and I’m happy to negotiate terms.

What are your payment options?

I like to try to be flexible. Contracts include a payment schedule. If you’re not comfortable with the payment schedule outlined in a contract, we can work together to find an amicable solution. I want to build your website – don’t be afraid to ask about other schedules or options.

What happens if I decide to move my website once it’s built?

If you decide not to host with me for whatever reason, I’ll provide you with a compressed version of your website, any associated data stored in databases, and all login credentials to everything a developer would need access to (such as hosting accounts or MySQL users). If I purchased your domain name, I’ll make sure you’re good to go with a pre-deployment site up and running on your new server before transferring the domain to you.

What about SEO?

All of the websites I build are accessible to search engines, but its extremely difficult to guarantee improved search engine rankings. If you need improved SEO, I can certainly provide an estimate to build a multi-pronged plan to boost your rankings.
